The Miller Family and LST Back in the USA after Chaos Breaks out all over Thailand

Ok crazy times, crazy times in Thailand. As many of you know by now, the government moved in and cleared out the majority of protesters from the protest area last Wednesday, May 19th. We have not had chance to update our blog until today. So I would like to give you a picture of our last week. Not surprisingly when the government moved in on the protesters, this set off a chain reaction of violence and fires not only in that area but this violence spread across Bangkok and many provinces of Thailand. 2 city halls were burned down in 2 different provinces. Many banks, 2 universities, the Thailand Stock Exchange building, a library, a TV station, and other buildings have been burned down. Our son Sam’s friends were at the mall by our house when a ping-pong bomb went off. None of them were injured, just scared to death!

Our Christian brother, To, was caught down in the middle of the chaos. He is a security officer at Central World Mall where the protesters were located. When the government moved in on the protesters he was caught in the mall. When the mall was set on fire, he was stuck in the mall with 300 other Central World employees. When they tried to leave the mall, they were shot at by the government, so they were stuck in the mall while it was burning down. He called me and asked me to help him. I felt so incredibly helpless so I started praying. And our God was faithful because he performed a miracle and rescued him from the mall. Praise God!!!

Early on that Wednesday morning, we moved the LST team and our family to the church building which is on the northeast edge of Bangkok. The next day, we went to RCC to gather the rest of the LST belongings and made a run to our apartment. Going to our apartment was a very surreal moment because there was military and police everywhere. And the mall in which the bombs went off was closed and surrounded by the military and police. And there was a check point with armed military checking everybody. At this point, the determination was made that LST needed to return to USA early and that we would be going back also for a couple of months. So the next day was spent time securing the LST team their plane tickets and our plane tickets.

The Miller family is now back in the USA and was met at the airport by our family< and Christian friends. After talking with them, we now really realize how stressful this situation was on them! (Because it is very difficult for people to watch the people they love in harm’s way!) Andy and I really did not realize how stressed and tense we were but for the last two nights, Andy and I have been experiencing nightmares about the situation in Thailand. But praise be to God, we can now slowly feel ourselves relaxing again.

We appreciate all of your prayers and support through this trying time. Continue to pray not only for us, but Thailand as a whole. This problem is not going to go away overnight and the scars will last forever. Also, a prayer of thanksgiving that our friend To. We love you all!

In Him who brings true peace,

Andy & Kathryn Miller

Dear Andy and Kathryn,

I love you both very much and am grateful God answered our prayers by putting a hedge around you and the believers. That was the prayer we prayed daily at MRN for you and the Thai people. Looking forward to seeing you soon. We continue to pray for Thailand.
