Busyness Does Not Equal Commitment to God

For the first three years as a missionary Andy and I worked 12 to 14 hours a day. We did bible studies, taught English, preached, taught bible class, taught at nationwide camps, organized events, and traveled to teach all over Thailand. We work many hours and stayed very busy to show our commitment to God. But during this very busy time, we started to feel very distant and far away from God. How could that be? We were working full-time for Him. So God shared with us in a variety of different ways that he did not want our busyness but God wanted us! God wanted to spend time with us, molding us and sharing with us about His plans for us for our lives. But we were so busy that we could not hear His voice or feel his presence in our lives. So we started taking a Sabbath every week. One day a week that we spent with just God, no appointments, no cell phones, no computers and no busyness! This one simple act has changed our relationship completely with God! We encourage you to find time every week that you spend just with God!

Blessings to All,

Kathryn

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences of spending time with God. God would like our lives to be as Maria, not as Matha(too busy everyday). God bless all of you.
